This is a formation practice mission. Your assignment is to fly wing to Section Leader John Wayne O'keefe, "Duke" , and hold formation per his inflight instruction. You should strive to maintain a comfortable distance of between 750 and 500 feet from DUKE at all times, never further away than 1000 feet nor closer than 350 feet.

This is not an easy mission. It is normal to be almost constantly working throttle and all control surfaces in order to maintain proper formation. DUKE will let you know very quickley when you are not where he expects you to be and Heaven help you if you get lost!

You do not have waypoints. You are expected to stay with you leader.

You should be using the head tracking function to stay "locked" on your leader. To get proficient at this you should have buttons set up to be able to "Toggle" between the forward, 12 O'clock view and the target locked position on your leader, you leader being your "target" .

Once you are able to consistantly complet this mission while staying on DUKE's wing within the 750 foot requirement you will be able to stay with anyone. I mean ANYONE.

2. The screen shots included with this package are examples of what flying formation should look like from your cockpit. The file name is the position and distance in feet from your wingman. The CLOCK POSITION IS FROM THE LEADERS POSITION. That's typically the way wing positions are assigned. For example, if the leader says to take his 4 O'clock, that is HIS 4 O'clock. YOU ARE LINE UP ON HIS "4 O'CLOCK."

3. Duke, your wing leader and instructor for this mission, is rather sharp tongued. And, on occassion, students have been tempted to take a pot shot at Duke. Some, have even given in to that temptation! JUST BE WARNED that not matter what mischief a student cooks up, Duke manages, somehow, to get even. So, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!

Fly it until you get it right. Good Luck.
